HEATPUMP
INFORMATION
How Does a Heatpump Work?
A standard split-system heatpump works the same way as a domestic refrigerator.
A refrigerator has a cold coil or plate (inside the cabinet) and a
warm finned coil (on the back of the refrigerator). These two plates
are connected
to each other with copper pipework. In between the cold coil and warm
coil there is a compressor. A split- system heatpump also has two finned
coils, one in the indoor unit which is fan assisted and the other in
the outdoor unit which is also fan assisted. These two finned coils
are connected to each other with copper pipework and wiring.
In between the indoor coil and the outdoor coil there is a
compressor (usually mounted within the outdoor unit).
